Maternity Care services

Be the guide of your maternal journey with the care and home birth you envision.

Prenatal Care

I look forward to offering the women and families of southern Oregon another option.

This is where my heart truly lies. There is nothing more exciting to me than going on a journey with a woman in her pregnancy. Allowing me to share in your joys, the aches and pains, the frustrations, the surprises, and everything in between. I am honored every time I place my hands on your belly.

During your pregnancy

  • Free “meet the midwife”. Let’s see if we are a good match. This is typically done via facetime and when it is most convenient for you.

  • In depth prenatal visits: generally 60mins in length. This includes more than just checking your blood pressure and listening to baby’s heart rate. Over the course of your pregnancy we really get to know each other and build a trusting and safe foundation to a special relationship.

  • Labs collected at visits. If you have insurance, these can be billed.

  • Complete nutrition history and suggestions. Baby eats what you eat. Let’s talk about protein, healthy snacks, and everything in between.

  • Ultrasound referrals.

  • Home visit around 36 weeks of your pregnancy. This is a chance for me to learn more about your birthing space and get more of an idea on what you are envisioning for your special moment.

If anything abnormal should arise during your pregnancy, then specific visits may be scheduled as necessary.

If there are several women (4+ is best) that are due around the same time, then there is an option of Hive Group Prenatal Care. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in pursuing for your prenatal care the first time we speak. The benefits speak for themselves. Just check them out above.

With Hive, regular prenatal appointments are 1hr long. But with group prenatal care, they are 2 hour sessions. You have time to spend with me (Hannah) individually, to discuss anything personal. Then you have the majority of 2 hours to spend in the group setting.

This is where you can ask questions and learn more about anything on your mind: what is safe to eat in pregnancy, and what is labor really going to be like?

Get advice and wisdom from others in the group. And at the end of your pregnancy, you have become part of a group (hive) of people with babies the same age as yours. This is the beginning of a great baby support/play group.

Group Prenatal Care

Labor and Home Birth

Offering home births to the women and families of the Rogue Valley.

How do you envision your labor and birth experience?

In a bed,

On a stool,

In your garden,

Or in a pool

I would love to be a part of your story.

Be the guide of your journey, not a passenger.

I truly mean all of the above. You can birth your baby wherever you want to birth your baby. There is no right or wrong way or place, pending all is going well. If you are upside down on the floor, then so will I. We make it work for you and baby.

You are free to eat and drink what you like during labor.
You are free to have whomever around you that will make you feel supported in your decisions.

You are free to be as clothed or naked as you desire (this means no ugly hospital gowns).

You are free……..

Waterbirth

Water, a constant force in our lives. It is essential for all things living.

Babies for the first part of their lives are swimming in a world of water.

Waterbirth provides a smooth transition for babies from inside to outside.

I am happy to offer the option of waterbirth as part of your experience in bringing your new babe into the world.

For me, there is something indescribable about waterbirth. I’ve witnessed the sense of calm sweep over laboring mom and the whole room when she submerges her belly in the water. It is truly beautiful.

I have birth tubs and all the supplies that you are free to use, no extra charge if you are a client of Hive Midwifery.

Postpartum Care

I love the postpartum period. New mom and baby all snuggly together, skin-to-skin, sharing smiles, tears, sleepless nights, learning about each other, discovering new roles, navigating body changes, first moments, new smells, ups and downs, the journey is vast and endless. During your postpartum period, I am easily reachable for you as I was while waiting for labor to begin. The fourth trimester has its own challenges, and I am here to help guide you through this journey. Frequent visits and education helps ensure… successful breastfeeding, decrease PP depression, and a more stable adjustment of adding a new baby to your family.
